EARLY ACADEMIC PURSUITS
Ricardo Belchior Torres embarked on his academic journey by earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará in 1993. He continued his academic pursuits by obtaining a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1998 and a Ph.D. in Sciences from the Institute of Chemistry in 2004, both from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP).
PROFESSIONAL ENDEAVORS
Throughout his career, Torres has held various significant positions in academia. He has served as a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and is presently the Vic-Rector for Teaching and Research at FEI. From 2010 to 2022, he assumed roles such as Head of Department and Undergraduate Course Coordinator. Additionally, he played a crucial role in establishing the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Chemical Engineering at FEI in 2013, where he currently serves as the Coordinator.

Torres has made substantial contributions to the field of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering, with a particular emphasis on Thermodynamics and Physical Chemistry. His research focuses on the experimental study and modeling of thermophysical properties of liquid systems, combustible mixtures, and systems containing ionic liquids. He has also conducted research on PVT data at high pressures and applications of calorimetry and spectroscopic properties.

ACADEMIC LEGACY AND FUTURE CONTRIBUTIONS
As an educator and mentor, Torres has guided numerous graduate students, supervising 21 masters, three doctors, and four post-doctoral internships. He is also actively involved in reviewing for international scientific journals and advising organizations such as CAPES, CNPq, FAPESP, and FUNDEP. As a member of various national and international scientific associations, he continues to shape the future of the field through his academic leadership and research endeavors.
