Prof. Vladimir Filinov's academic journey began at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Russia, where he earned his M.Sc. degree in Physical Optics (Physics) in 1967. He then pursued another M.Sc. degree in Mathematics from Moscow State University, Russia, in 1970. In 2006, he achieved the title of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences with a thesis on "Correlation effects in strongly coupled Coulomb systems."

His roles have ranged from Engineer and Post-Graduate to Junior Scientist, Scientist, Senior Scientist, Leading Scientist, and Chief Scientist in the Theoretical Department.
