Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanikaikarasan Sethuramachandran began his academic journey at RDGA College, Madurai Kamaraj University, where he earned his B.Sc in Physics. He continued his education at Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, completing his M.Sc and Ph.D in Physics (Thin Films). His doctoral dissertation, supervised by Prof. T. Mahalingam and Prof. C. Sanjeeviraja, focused on "Electrochemical Synthesis and Studies on Cd1-xFexSe Thin Films," demonstrating his early interest and expertise in Materials Science, particularly in thin films and electrochemical processes.


Dr. Sethuramachandran's academic career spans several institutions in Tamil Nadu, India. He began as an Assistant Professor at PSN College of Engineering & Technology, Tirunelveli, from June 2010 to April 2016. Following this, he served as an Assistant Professor & HoD at Shanmuganathan Engineering College, Pudukottai, and subsequently as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha University. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Physical Sciences at Saveetha School of Engineering.


Dr. Sethuramachandran's research interests lie in Materials Science, focusing on electrodeposition, thin films, solar cells, II-VI and II-III-V semiconductors, chalcogenides, magnetic materials, TCO materials, nanomaterials, and photocatalysis. He has guided several students in their research pursuits, with numerous M.Phil and M.Sc students under his mentorship. His research has led to significant projects, including the electrochemical deposition and characterization of various thin films for photoelectrochemical solar cells.


Through his research and academic contributions, Dr. Sethuramachandran has made a substantial impact in the field of Materials Science. His work on the development of photoelectrochemical solar cells and solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells has been funded by prestigious organizations like CSIR HRDG and BRNS-DAE, BARC. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Senior Research Fellow (SRF) from CSIR and the Young Scientist Award from Venus International Research Foundation, Chennai.


Dr. Sethuramachandran has contributed extensively to the scientific community, serving as a guest editor for the Journal of New Material for Electrochemical Systems and an editorial member for several prominent journals in Materials Science. He is a diligent reviewer for various high-impact journals, including Coatings, Electrochimica Acta, and Journal of Alloys and Compounds, showcasing his expertise and influence in the field.


Dr. Sethuramachandran's legacy includes a robust foundation in thin films and electrochemical processes, with a focus on their applications in solar cells and nanomaterials. His future contributions are expected to further advance the understanding and applications of Materials Science, particularly in renewable energy technologies and advanced materials.
