EARLY ACADEMIC PURSUITS
Dr. Ujjal Das embarked on his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, University of Calcutta, where he graduated with first class honors and was the class topper in 2005. He then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, graduating in 2007 with a CPI of 9.4, the second highest in his class. His master’s thesis focused on "Diamagnetic Anisotropy Induced by Mo−Mo Quadruply Bonded Species and its Oxidation to Polyoxomolybdate," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J. K. Bera. Dr. Das continued his academic excellence by earning a Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Bonn, with a summa cum laude distinction. His dissertation, titled "Closed-shell and Open-shell Ferracyclobutadienes – Syntheses, Characterization and Reactivity Studies," was supervised by Prof. Dr. A. C. Filippou.

Since August 2015, Dr. Das has held the position of Akademischer Rat a. Z. in the group of Prof. Dr. A. C. Filippou. Prior to this, he was a post-doctoral fellow in the same group from September 2014 to August 2015.
