She earned her BS degree with first-class honors from Istanbul Kultur University (IKU), Turkey, in Civil Engineering. Building upon this strong foundation, she pursued an MS in Geotechnical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkey. Her academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), USA, where she specialized in Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering with a focus on Soil Liquefaction and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering.

Prof. Ecemis has held various esteemed positions in academia and industry. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE), Izmir, Turkey.
