Starting as a Lecturer in the Department of Physiology and Environmental Health at the University of Limpopo in January 2014, he diligently delivered lectures, conducted practicals, and supervised postgraduate students. His role evolved over time, and he currently serves as a Senior Lecturer, overseeing a broader spectrum of responsibilities, including curriculum development, assessment, and student supervision.

Dr. Hanser's research focus lies in HIV-related pathophysiological conditions, particularly cardiovascular and renal diseases. His doctoral thesis, completed in 2021, delved into investigating the effects of antiretroviral therapy on early markers of cardiovascular disease among HIV patients in Limpopo province, South Africa.
